چکیده

Introduction: Risk of Nonunion, residual shoulder disability and symptomatic malunion are higher in conservative treatment of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures which are reportedly decreased by operative method but plating these fractu profile anatomically precontoured plates may reduce the rates of plate prominence and hardware removal. Objective: To assess the rate of plate prominence, rate of hardware removal, rate of complications, radiological and functional outcome of a pre acute, displaced, mid-shaft clavicle fractures. Materials and methods: This study presented the results of 50 patients treated with an anatomical congruent clavicle plate for acute displaced, mid December 2013 admitted in Narayana General Hospital. Results: The fracture united in all cases with minimal complications and high patient satisfaction on the Disability of the Arm and Shoulder (DASH) score, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons score (ASES) and Pain Visual analogue score (VAS). The results compare favorably with other published studies Conclusion: A congruent clavicle plate prove to be a better opti terms of patient compliance, hardware complication, radiological and functional outcome. 2, Issue 5, May, 2015. Is plating of mid-shaft clavicular fractures possible with a conventional straight 3.5 millimeter locking compression plate?

OBJECTIVES Current literature describes improved clinical outcomes and a minor rate of pseudoarthrosis following operatively treated clavicular fractures. We investigated the feasibility of using a standard 3.5 mm AO locking compression plate (LCP) of adequate length for the stabilisation of mid-shaft fractures of the clavicle. METHODS The length and acromial and diaphyseal curvature depths w...

Displaced mid-shaft clavicular fractures: is conservative treatment still preferred?

BACKGROUND A clavicular fracture accounts for 2.6%-5% of adult fractures. Fractures in the middle-third (OTA 15-B) represent 69%-82% of all clavicular fractures. There is no consensus among orthopedic surgeons regarding treatment for these fractures: many support conservative treatment even for displaced middle-third clavicular fractures, while others choose operative treatment. OBJECTIVES To...

Meta-analysis of differences in Constant-Murley scores for three mid-shaft clavicular fracture treatments

There is no consensus on the optimal treatment for mid-shaft clavicular fracture. We conducted a meta-analysis to compare the effectiveness of non-operative treatment, plate fixation, and intramedullary pin fixation in terms of the Constant-Murley Score (CMS) for treatment of mid-shaft clavicular fracture. Comprehensive search of the Embase, Cochrane Library and PubMed was conducted to retrieve...

Management of mid-shaft clavicular fractures: comparison between non-operative treatment and plate fixation in 60 patients

Clavicle fracture is a common injury due to its subcutaneous and relatively anterior position. Fractures affecting the middle third account for majority of all clavicular fractures. Both non-operative and surgical methods have been described for the management of this injury. However, there is no uniform consensus on the definite choice of treatment. Hence, this study was undertaken to compare ...
